Chasing 5 Hours
2012 was my first year in triathlon and I learnt a lot very fast about the sport. It's taken a few years for me to get the time to compete in this sport but now I'm completely hooked! When I joined ETC I had very little biking and swimming done. I had done some half and one full marathon with my own way of training! Last years main goal was the Galway Ironman 70.3 in September. I was happy with the result of 5hrs 24mins. Also very happy to get...

Weather was dry and cool with a stiff 20km/h breeze from the WSW. Conditions were not optimal and some people even reckoned there was a headwind both out and back!

Before I knew it, it was race day, I set off with plenty of time to spare; I was unsure where I was going and my sense of direction...

2012 ended bitter sweet, with a dream race in DCT, 5th over all and then down to Kenmare to realise “uh oh, what’s up? why am I not flying it like 2 weeks ago”. So I left Kenmare in a hurry, to start my end of season feast on Beer, Pizza, Pic & Mix. Did I enjoy it you ask?? By hell did I enjoy it.. 7lbs up in 2 weeks. Ya that’s pretty much it 2 weeks off total training and 4 weeks off formal...
