Right, I've started getting a steady trickle of email enquiries all looking for the same thing, where are the race results?  Well, come and get them!  There are also photos by Seanie Power and Gordon Thomson available and there is a write-up on the Triathlon Ireland website.

A short summary of the day is below.  I'm hoping one (or more) people will write a race report based on their experiences of the day.  Don't be shy!  If you send a report on to me I will post it on the website.  Looking forward to hearing what you thought about the race.  Anyway, here's some of my spiel:

The inaugural Ennis Duathlon was held on Sunday 3rd April in Lees Road Sports & Amenity Park.  The course started with a 3k trail run through the adjacent forest followed by a 14k cycle in windy conditions and finished with another run through the forest.  There were 168 entrants in a wide field ranging from elites, age groupers and a Triathlon Ireland Youth Development Squad to first-timers, mothers and local club members.

The short course meant a fast race and the first run was finished in under 9 minutes by Mike Yelverton quickly followed by Con Doherty and Ennis Tri Club's own Patrick Quinn.  While there were many battles to follow, this remained the order of the top 3 finishers.  The first three females home were Derval Devaney, Andree Walkin & Maebh Hurst.  Thankfully the sky stayed blue!  Many athletes took advantage of this by enjoying an outdoor post-race massage from Jane and her team of physios while enjoying the upbeat tunes from DJ Daryl.

The race finished up with the obligatory prize-giving, which awarded the top finishers in several categories: overall male & female, first-timers, mothers, mountain bikers and juniors.  Thanks to everyone who helped out with the organisation and running of the event, the athletes, Jane and her physios, DJ Daryl, Dr. Martin Fitzgerald, Clare Red Cross, Clare County Council and the Gardai.
